Maffra born and raised, as one of five bambinos, I grew up spending most of my time outdoors riding horses, playing netball, and spending weekends swimming in local waterholes or gathered around picnic rugs with family. Raised by the very best Mumma Bear, I learnt early the value of kindness, connection, and community — values that continue to shape both my life and my work today.

University took me to the city, where I somewhat accidentally stumbled into Midwifery. My thinking at the time was, if I'm doing one degree, I may as well do two! This random decision quickly became a calling.

I have been a Midwife since 2011, spending eight years working in a tertiary hospital, supporting women and babies through complex pregnancies, birth, and early parenting. Although it was baptism by fire, it was an invaluable experience providing me with broad clinical knowledge, skills and a deep respect for the strength, wisdom, and resilience of women.

After my bee’s knees hubby and I welcomed our first three children, we felt the pull of home and returned to where the grass is greener. We wanted our children to grow up with muddy feet, fresh air, and the freedom that comes with country life. As our family grew, and we welcomed our fourth and final little wildling, so too did a growing sense that there was another way I wanted to practice as a midwife.

While I loved caring for women, I found myself feeling out of step with what the system was offering. I wanted the time to truly know the women I was supporting. To build relationships. To walk alongside families throughout their whole journey, not just brief moments of it. I wanted to provide care that felt personal, collaborative, and centred around the unique needs of each woman.

That fire in my belly led me to becoming an Endorsed Midwife offering care across the midwifery continuum inclusive of homebirth since 2024.

Today, I have the privilege of providing continuity of care to women and families through one of the most transformative chapters of their lives. It is a role I hold with enormous gratitude and respect.

At the heart of my practice is a simple belief: women are the experts of their bodies, their babies, and their own lives. My role is not to tell you what to do. My role is to provide evidence-based information, guidance, and unwavering support physically and emotionally so you can make informed decisions that align with your values, your beliefs, your circumstances, and your instincts.

I believe every woman should be nurtured, heard, respected, and have her space held as she navigates pregnancy, birth, and early motherhood.

A few fun facts about me...

  • Life without coffee is no life at all!

  • Salt and vinegar chips are unquestionably the superior flavour.

  • I am unashamedly a mix of holistic and western health practices

  • I love to karaoke

  • Cleaning the bathroom is my nemesis

  • My happiest days are spent at the beach with my bambinos, soaking up long summer days.

Officially the oldest midwife in the group (and definitely the shortest by a considerable margin). Don't let my height fool you though – I'm a classic middle child and Gemini, which means I can chat to anybody! Luckily for my clients, I've spent 15 years as a midwife and 20 years as a nurse learning how to listen just as well as I talk.

I grew up as one of three sisters, and we have 7 boys between us! I have three gorgeous boys who are loud, busy, hilarious and the absolute loves of my life. The births of each of my boys were completely different and deepened my understanding of how unique every birth story truly is.

I'm married to my husband and best friend, Stuart, who is very much the calm to my storm. While I'm often juggling a thousand ideas at once, he is there always keeping me grounded.

I've travelled the world and lived in Sweden and England, completed my Masters of Midwifery, and now an Endorsed Midwife. I am deeply passionate about supporting women with evidence-based, personalised care and helping families feel informed, confident and empowered. Knowledge really is power!

Alongside my sister, Midwife Trace, we co-created Sista of Soul, where we provided labour & birth support and holistic childbirth education. I'm also a Reiki practitioner and I am currently training as a First Moon Circle Facilitator, educating young girls as they reach menarche. The way a young girl experiences her first period shapes how she views herself and her body for years to come, and I believe this work is incredibly important.

A passionate researcher in evidence-based practice, with always a little room for some “woo woo” Magick. You'll often find me charging crystals under a full moon & making moon water for cleansing and manifestation. My older nephews lovingly refer to me as "the crazy crystal lady," a title I wear with pride.

Creating Gippsland Midwifery Group has been a dream in my heart for a long time. Seeing this beautiful space come to life feels incredibly special (hello manifestation!). I am endlessly grateful to my Mum & Dad for believing in the vision and helping us make it a reality. I feel so loved, supported and held by the people around me.

A few random facts about me:

  • I talk in my sleep.

  • I have a pet cockatiel “Mochi”

  • People in costumes make me anxious

  • LOVE a super cold Pepsi Max and a Champas

  • I cry at most births I attend

  • I wrote a play titled “with woman”

  • I was on “Deal or No Deal”

After all these years, birth still feels like magic every single time. It is the greatest privilege to walk alongside women and families as they welcome their babies into the world.

Outside of birth work, I’m a mum to two energetic young boys who keep life wonderfully full. As a family, we love camping and exploring the beauty of nature — especially the places with no reception, plenty of water to splash around in, and bushland all around. Our happiest moments are spent around a campfire, toasting marshmallows and soaking in the quiet simplicity of being together – to stop, to appreciate, to be barefoot and wildly grounded!

My journey into holistic, woman‑centred care has been shaped by many experiences, but none more meaningful than the work I’ve shared with my big (but littler!) sister, Fi. Together we created Sista of Soul, a space dedicated to childbirth education, doula support, and nurturing families through pregnancy, birth, and beyond. In more recent years, my passion for physiological birth has been deeply influenced by my time supporting homebirth families alongside Megan in her private practice. Megan has been a massive inspiration for me, as she mentored Fi and I in the homebirth space, sharing her wisdom, her professionalism and her nurturing ways. Bearing witness to the strength, intuition, and capability of women birthing in their own homes has re‑lit a fire in my belly — a reminder of why I became a midwife in the first place.

Homebirth has shown me, again and again, that when women are trusted, respected, and supported with honest, evidence‑based care, they flourish. This renewed passion is what now drives my work within Gippsland Midwifery Group: to offer holistic, grounded, relationship‑based midwifery care that honours women’s bodies, their choices, and their stories.

I’d love to become a lactation consultant in the near future to expand the support I can offer to families as they navigate feeding, bonding, and the early days of parenthood.

For the past 14 years I’ve had the privilege of walking alongside women and families as a midwife and nurse. Over that time, I’ve learned that the most powerful care we can offer is continuity — the kind of midwifery‑led care where relationships are nurtured, trust is built, and families feel genuinely seen and supported. Evidence continues to show that continuity models lead to safer, more satisfying maternity outcomes, and it’s this gold‑standard approach that forms the foundation of Gippsland Midwifery Group.

I’m incredibly excited for what Gippsland Midwifery Group will bring to our community. Our dream is to create a multidisciplinary hub — a warm, welcoming space where families can access a range of services under one roof. A place where collaboration thrives, where practitioners support one another and continue learning, and where the needs of the community are met with heart and expertise.
