Welcome to Gippsland Midwifery Group
Gippsland Midwifery Group was founded by three passionate and nurturing midwives with a shared dream of offering connected, relationship-based care to families across the Gippsland community throughout pregnancy, birth and early parenting.
Nestled within Magnolia House on Palmerston Street in Sale, Victoria, we have created a homelike, warm and welcoming space where women and families can feel safe, supported and truly held throughout their journey into parenthood.
We believe birth and parenting are deeply personal experiences, and that every family deserves support and the reassurance of being cared for by a known and trusted Midwife. Research continues to show that continuity of midwifery care is the gold standard and leads to improved outcomes for both mothers and babies, increased confidence and satisfaction, higher rates of physiological birth and reduced birth trauma.
At Gippsland Midwifery Group, we work together to provide holistic, evidence-based care that honours your choices, your instincts and your individual journey. We are here to support you wherever you feel most comfortable bringing your baby earthside — whether that be in hospital, within our onsite birth retreat, or in the familiar comfort of your own home.
Magnolia House is more than a clinic space; it is a place of connection, community and gathering. A space where families can come together for appointments, workshops, morning teas and supportive allied health services as they grow into parenthood.
Our Story
We are three dear friends, mums to a tribe of boys and one very special girl, and your good old, ordinary midwives whose lives have become beautifully woven together to create something a little extraordinary.
United by a deep passion for respectful, nurturing and personalised care, we each found ourselves longing for a way of practising that felt more aligned with our core midwifery values.
The universe seemed to have other plans for us, bringing us together at a time when we were all feeling disconnected from the very essence of midwifery — with woman.
What began as casual conversations and shared dreams soon grew into something much bigger. We imagined a place where women and families felt truly seen, heard and supported. Where relationships mattered, appointments were unhurried, and care was centred around the individual.
And so, Gippsland Midwifery Group was born.
Nestled in beautiful Gippsland, where the lakes meet the sea, we are a warm and welcoming, midwifery-led model of care supporting women and families throughout pregnancy, birth and beyond.
We believe in taking the time to listen, answer questions, explore options and support each woman to discover what feels right for her and her baby. No rushing, no one-size-fits-all care — just warm, personalised and continuous midwifery care.
Between us, we bring more than 30 years of experience across hospital, high-risk maternity and homebirth, bringing together a wonderfully varied mix of knowledge, expertise and perspective.
Back in 2021, the three of us started dreaming about creating a space dedicated to women and their families through the beautiful, messy and transformative season of matrescence.
It was one of those fluffy, sparkly, rainbows-and-unicorns kind of dreams — the kind you talk about, never really knowing if it will happen.
And here we are, the dream has become a reality!
We are incredibly proud and delighted to be opening Magnolia House in Sale in mid-2027 — a warm, welcoming home for women, families and like-minded practitioners in our Gippsland community.
Magnolia House will feature three warm and cosy clinic rooms, along with a comfortable open lounge space for birth education, workshops and community connection.
But wait… there’s more!
The Birth Retreat
Our unique on-site Birth Retreat has been created for women who want the comfort and privacy of a home-like environment, but for whom home isn’t their safe or preferred place to birth.
A calm, nurturing space to labour, birth and spend those precious early hours with your baby, while remaining close to hospital care.
Whether you live a long way from hospital, have a higher-risk pregnancy, or simply want the feeling of home without being at home, the Birth Retreat has been created with you in mind.
And we are incredibly proud to be creating the only Birth Retreat of its kind currently operating in Victoria.
We can’t wait to journey with you!
